Question girdles, corsets and other foundation wear--why is their use going down?

Best Answer I'm sorry, but corset sales (girdles and foundation wear excluded) are going through the roof, and have done since the Moulin Rouge movie phenonema of a few years back. They certainly are not dropping. The big name manufacturers are selling more corsets than ever! The look sexy in the bedroom or on the formal dance floor. If you buy a good one and get sound advise from the retailer then there should be no ill affects. If you use electricity wrongly you get a shock. Same with corsets. If you don't buy a good corset and/or do not take advice then you may get ill affects. It's just common sense. You don't have to tight lace to look good in a corset! You can get good advice from the following resource sites.
Question PLEASE HELP!! Is it safe for me to waist train with an under-bust steel boned corset at the age of 15?
Hi! I'm turning 15 in march. I'm 5 foot 2 and 104 pounds, and I'm pretty healthy and active. My current waist size is 25 inches, and my hip size is 34. Is it safe for me to use a steel-boned corset to reduce my 25 inch waist down two or three inches? I want slight, but natural looking results. I plan to do this gradually, and tastefully. My only concern however, is my health. I don't want to "shift" my organs or "mold" my ribcage in any harmful way. If I plan on doing this gradually, will it be unsafe and drastic for my body and development? *Btw, my doctor says I'm pretty much done growing. I don't know if that's relevant to my question, but just in case I thought I'd through it out there lol. I plan on ordering a corset, if it is safe, within the next 5 days bc then it goes off sale. So I will award 20 points to the best answer!! PLEASE!!!!!

Best Answer Hi Princess, many models of corsets are manufactored today. You can look out many manufactors of corsets on internet. You can choose style of your corset what you wish. The corsets made today are so called "fashion" (usually boned with plastic bones) and "authentic" (boned with steel spirals and flat steels). Fashion corsets are worn as a top usually, they are light and they are not designed for waistline reduction. Authentic corsets are designed as undergarment to reduce waist line. If you look on site corset-story.com there are "steel boned" (for 4-5 inches waist reduction) and "waist training" (for 6-7 inches waist reduction, only for experienced wearers) corsets. You wrote you are healthy and your waistline is 25" so you can go into 22" or even 20" corset. You are slender and you have certainly perfect figure so you can decide between both sizes. I think 20" corset can be suitable for you. Because when your corset is loose, the front busk can suddently partly open when you bend forward. It is unpleasend. All authentic corsets mold your figure into hourglass silhouette and compress both halves of your lower ribscage together. Lower ribs are flexible and they bend under the pressure of the corset. Your body accommodates to the shape of your corset and your internal organs adapt to this shape. They are slight moved. It is safety and without any health problem. The whole secret of corset wearing is gradually lacing up. If you lace your corset too tight it will be uncomfortable for you and you loose lacing soon. The corsets were common part of women's underwear in 19th century and between years 1945 - 1960. The corset creates wonderful hourglass figure with absolutely tiny waist, perfectly flat stomach and perfect posture. I have worn the corsets from my 15 without any problems. I wear 22" corset usually under my dress and 20" under my ball dress. When you loose your corset, shape of your body returns to its natural shape. When you will wear your corset for long hours the corset bones create pressure imprints on your skin temporarily like a bra. Only when you will wear your corset long hours everyday couple of months your figure can look like corseted for some time without your corset. It is depended how flexible are your ribs, how tight and how long you were wearing your corset. I know the corset is restrictive undergarment. It limits movements and activities. When corseted you can't take a deep breath in. You can breathe with upper part of your chest only. You can't move like uncorseted before. You can hardly bend forward or down. It isn't easy to pick something from floor or slump in a chair when wearing corset. The corset constricts also your stomach. You can eat a small meal. When corseted you can feel it sometimes uncomfortable. When you are corseted for first time you should learn how to walk, sit down on a chair and get up and laced in your corset.
